I came to Smarter Business after studying Hospitality Management at Varsity College. My original position at the company was as a Sales Consultant but it wasn’t long before I was given the opportunity to climb the corporate ladder. Not many businesses show you the map to growth and provide you with the foundation to get to the next level. I have had the privilege of experiencing growth first hand as well as seeing and developing a significant amount of Sales Consultants into a managerial role.

If I could say anything to someone thinking of joining our family, it would be: strap in because things are about to get wild! The opportunities at Smarter Business are endless, very rarely can someone safely say that their employer has their best interests at heart. We have grown leaps and bounds over the last couple of years and l am happy to let anyone know that this is only the beginning!

When I finished matric, I decided to head straight into the working world. I spent two years working in the hospitality industry before joining the company in 2010.

What I love about Smarter Business is the culture. It has always been dynamic and infectious. My history in the company is evidence that there is no limit to what is possible! I’ve gone from Account Manager to Corporate Retentions to Training and Business Development, to my most recent role as Product Development Manager. Some of the roles I’ve had didn’t even exist until I was promoted into them!

I joined the Smarter Business family in June 2016 after working as a cashier. At the time, I was studying towards an electrical engineering diploma at the Midlands FET. In less than a year I was promoted to a Customer Care Consultant and in 2019 I applied for and was accepted as a Business Analyst. A job that I believe is my niche; problem solving and being able to assist people on a daily basis.

This company has truly impacted my life in the best way possible. The people and the atmosphere is so electric and positive. There is always someone challenging you to do

In 2012, I was promoted to a Corporate Energy Account Manager, meaning I was now able to handle, sell and manage all our massive corporate accounts and clients’ utility requirements. Then 2015 brought with it further growth and achievements when I was appointed as Head of Smarter Business Corporate Division. My team grew from strength to strength and in 2018, we became Smarter Business Key Accounts Centre of Excellence.

It was in 2020 that I reached my biggest achievement to date; I was promoted to Head of Property Management and became solely responsible for our biggest client’s portfolio.

Smarter Business is such a positive environment which has been a massive contributor to my phenomenal growth over the last ten years.

When I joined Smarter Business initially, I was employed as a Sales Consultant. I quickly realised the potential for growth in the company and, with the amazing support the company provides, it wasn’t long before I was able to progress to Sales Supervisor. Since then, I have been able to maintain a steady growth rate and have had multiple promotions. I am currently Strategic Sales Manager and have my eyes set on even bigger and higher goals.

Coming from a sales background, I had some idea of the hostile environment I would be exposed to when joining Smarter Business but these expectations were shattered when I walked in on day one and was welcomed like I had been family for years. Every individual embraced newcomers with open arms and helped me settle in and gain traction faster than I had ever experienced.
